The NGO/DPI Executive Committee would like to update NGOs on the status of plans for annual conferences.
Regarding the 65th UN DPI NGO Conference, there have been several expressions of interest by Member States to host the conference in the next several years. However, we do not have definite commitments. As adequate time is needed to plan each conference, the Annual Conference will not be held at its usual time, the end of August/beginning of September this year.
The NGO/DPI Executive Committee is now initiating an online poll for NGOs from around the world to suggest priority themes for upcoming conferences. Please submit suggestions with a short explanation to futureconfthemes@gmail.com
The annual Town Hall meeting at the UN on June 28, 2012 will also invite recommendations for future Conference themes.
We are pleased to announce that the 2015 Conference will be held at UN Headquarters in New York!
Please also check the DPI NGO Relations website, www.un.org/dpi/ngosection  for Conference updates.
The Global NGO Executive Committee (GNEC) was founded in 1962 to promote a closer working relationship between the United Nations and the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) affiliated with it. GNEC acts as a liaison between the NGO community and the UN's Department of Global Communications (UNDGC). GNEC provides strategic guidance to help NGOs become more effective partners of the UN.
