NGO DPI Associate members the Bond Street Theatre are working with young girls in Afghanistan as the NGO Reporter goes to print. This is their eighth visit to the war torn region. meanwhile they have already traveled twice to Myanmar (Burma), and have a very active presence in Haiti, working on theatre productions for and with women of rape. This active NGO believes that development is best witnessed through its special, theatrical events in areas of conflict or natural disasters and since 1973, they have been active in this effort. The Global NGO Executive Committee (GNEC) was founded in 1962 to promote a closer working relationship between the United Nations and the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) affiliated with it. GNEC acts as a liaison between the NGO community and the UN's Department of Global Communications (UNDGC). GNEC provides strategic guidance to help NGOs become more effective partners of the UN.
