As governed by our by-laws, each voting Member of the GNEC Board shall participate in at least one of the eight subcommittees. The subcommittees are as follows:
By-Laws, Policies and Procedures
The subcommittee is responsible for reviewing GNEC’s two official NYS and IRS governing documents, presenting any proposed revisions to the GNEC Board and any recording revisions voted upon and made.
Communications
The subcommittee is responsible for developing communications strategies for GNEC events and creating materials to inform and promote the work of GNEC and UNDGC affiliated NGOs through various communications channels. Also responsible for social media and the NGO Reporter.
Events and Conferences
The subcommittee is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of an annual conference as well as other GNEC-initiated briefings and related events, which may be developed by GNEC or may be as collaborative efforts, with UNDGC or other NGOs.
Fundraising
The subcommittee is responsible for fundraising and development, including preparing presentations, prospecting, contacting potential funders and securing support for GNEC projects and UNDGC affiliated NGOs.
Finance
The subcommittee is responsible for handling GNEC finances, receiving and disbursing funds, and managing the budget.
Nominations and Elections
The subcommittee is responsible for all aspects of conducting the GNEC elections, including determining the most appropriate method to recruit candidates and administer the election process.
Outreach and Partnerships
The subcommittee is responsible for reaching out and engaging with all UNDGC affiliated NGOs by creating and providing opportunities to increase visibility and/or collaboration.
Strategic Plan
The subcommittee is responsible for reviewing short and long range strategic plans for GNEC.
The Global NGO Executive Committee (GNEC) was founded in 1962 to promote a closer working relationship between the United Nations and the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) affiliated with it. GNEC acts as a liaison between the NGO community and the UN's Department of Global Communications (UNDGC). GNEC provides strategic guidance to help NGOs become more effective partners of the UN.
